what are the consequences of having a relationship whilst seperated? the divorce is still pending awaiting a court appearance date i understand that this could take up to three years... would one need to stay single during this period?

No you do not have to stay single, and yes divorce can become very ugly and drawn out. Even when it "starts" "friendly".
I my own case my new girlfriend was blamed for breaking up our failed marriage. Howver i only met her AFTER i moved out the house. The other problem is that firstly : Are YOU really ready for another relationship ? Or are you so used to NOT being alone ?
Secondly : I think that only Satan himself is worse than 'n whining, fighting, backstabbing, vengefull and blameful soon to be ex-wife. This makes a new relationship VERY difficult and puts a lot of strain and stress on the other person you are or are planning to see. Do THEY deserve it ?
But this was my own experience and looking back I shouldn't have been in another relationship while fighting a divorce. But you are not me and your new person isnt my who was my new now ex girlfriend.
So legally and for your divorce case prospects there is nothing that says you can't...

THANKS FOR THE HELP... YOU ARE SO RIGHT WHEN YOU SAY "STARTS FRIENDLY" IT IS DEFINITELY ALL TAKING A TURN FOR ALONG AND FRUSTRATING EVENT. HOWEVER I DO STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT I WILL BE BETTER OFF... THE ONLY GOOD THING THAT'S COME OUT OF IT ALL IS MY LITTLE GIRL... MY MAJOR CONCERN NOW IS GETTING MY DAUGHTER TO BOND WITH NOT ONLY ME BUT MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND MY SOON TO BE EX-WIFE IS REALLY MAKING THAT HARD... SHE DOES NOT KEEP ME AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER BUT WON'T LET MY MUM OR SISTER COME NEAR OUR CHILD... AFTER READING ALL THE POST AND PEOPLES EXPERIENCES IT IS RATHER DISSAPOINTING TO FIND THAT SHOULDTHIS CONTINUE THERE IS VERY LITTLE OR NOTHING THAT I CAN DO TO CHANGE THIS.
